How-to-recover-from-EclampsiaPregnancy-Induced-Hypertension
Today, I’ll share how the pregnancy and birth progressed. On the 27th of February, by 6am, I went to the bathroom thinking it was regular pee, then boom the sharp pain started and I knew it was time. Knowing this was a work week and we’d be in traffic with workers taking off early that morning, we joined it from Ajah to Gbagada (google the distance😁)
I couldn’t wait to get to the hospital, it seemed like forever, we spent 3hours getting to the hospital, Lagos traffic is not a respecter of persons ooo
Finally got wheeled into the delivery room and pushed my big man by 11am, it indeed was what God told be it would be-Swiftly Sweet & Successful.
Got discharged and went home.
Two weeks later, I found myself back in the hospital. Events leading to that time found me with swollen feet that (NEVER) happened during pregnancy and terrible headaches that I thought was as a result of stress. Drove myself in and checked my vitals-My Bp read 180/100. I was kept immediately on the bed with ice packs, yet I was super restless, I just couldn’t sit still, but I knew I needed to.
When I was monitored again to see if it had gone down, boom! It jumped to 200/110🤯
At this point, I was whisked into the ambulance and again faced traffic going to the ICU centre of this clinic-Sounds familiar right? (AJAH to Gbagada at workers’ close time rush hour-wheeew!!!)
While in the ambulance, now wearing the patient’s overall, I was sooooo restless. I just wanted my head removed, washed and the headache 🤕 rinsed away. Thankfull, the ambulance nurse kept speaking & prophesying to me “You shall not die, you’ll live to take care of your children’s children- I think that was a lifeline right there, ‘cos I really was losing it.
Upon arrival, the team whisked me to the ICU and administered an injection to crash the Bp and kept checking, but then I CONVULSED… I could feel the fear in the room, but deep down, I knew I’d be okay! After that episode, a nurse on duty saw me in my room and said you’re a miracle on 2feet, many women don’t come out of that experience WHOLE AGAIN!
That made me go on a quest to find out what exactly happened to me. Research led me to the world of ECLAMPSIA & my fight against PREGNANCY-INDUCED HYPERTENSION- it is a killer my brethren!!!!!!
Don’t even play with it, it’s a fire that has consumed 10 in 100 women in Africa…
I’m alive by Mercy & I don’t take it for granted, hence my “noise” about this condition.
